About the Outer Banks
The Outer Banks is a stretch of islands located off the east coast of North Carolina. On the far east coast, the islands are bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, and on the west coast, bordered by the Pamlico Sound. It’s home to several towns, to name a few: Corolla, Duck, Southern Shores, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head, Manteo, Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo, Avon, Buxton, Frisco, Hatteras, and Ocracoke Island. The most southern beaches are connected to Nags Head and the other northern beaches by The Bonner Bridge. Once you reach Hatteras Island, to get to Ocracoke, and other islands in the area, you must board a ferry. It is a prime tourist location, being home to many national landmarks including the Wright Brothers Memorial, Jockey’s Ridge State Park, several stunning lighthouses, museums, trails, and excellent water for fishing, swimming, and other water sports.
