I LOVE LOVE LOVE Hatemail

^ Enough said. I got called “a hater”, heh. I know, in itself that amused me too. Anyway, the only question I have is if these “attacks” are such a serious problem, why are their not park rangers seriously monitoring the marked areas? What good does closing more beach and angering hundreds of people solve? The birds eggs are still getting bashed in, maybe something should be done about that? It’s funny to associate the people who want to allow ORV access with bird egg smashers… especially considering that every flyer and anything having to do with the cause strictly makes sure to point out that VANDALISM IS NOT OKAY. Heck, even I pointed that out several times. Why would we condone such behavior out of these “uneducated morons?” It results in more of our beaches being closed down so clearly this is not something I am going around urging people to do? I’m not really sure what the rest of what was commented to me meant because it was a little mixed up. Anyway, I just wanted to clarify that if a public beach that has been this way for years… is all closed up, but low and behold – there are oodles of birds & other wildlife!!!!! – tourists will not come. I can tell you right now why 99.9% of tourists go to the beach in the first place – it’s a beach. Tourists = a big hunk of revenue. I just wanted to clear one thing up that I don’t think a lot of people understand. People who want to keep the beaches open to ORV access & swimming & “jet skis & wannabe monster trucks”, don’t want to kill the birds, don’t want to drive around over the dunes and destroy all the plants, etc. Everyone wants Hatteras Island to say in good condition, but erosion is a HUGE (nearly unavoidable) problem around the whole country – 1 (which, is not even why so many parts of the beach keep closing), and 2 – there needs to be an equal balance between wildlife & humans. I mean, for God’s sakes, delaying the building of a new bridge because it cuts through a bird habitat? TEN THOUSAND PEOPLE CROSS THAT BRIDGE PER DAY IN THE SUMMER… and all of you against building the bridge are one of them at some point in time. So how are you going to feel when it collapses and your car is driving across it, or what about when it collapses and you are stuck on the island and a hurricane is on it’s way. Who’s in trouble now? I think people’s lives are more important than one particular wildlife area of which the wildlife will come back/can be found other places/aren’t all endangered.

Anyway, that’s all the blabs I have for today. Work is killing me, so I’ve had next to no time. However, I am going to soon be posting, I’m going home tomorrow which means for the next 3 days or so, I’ll be more relaxed, have more time, and most of all, won’t be working. So expect something by the end of the week. Thanks for being patient.
